I just dont believe how broadband companies are getting away with advertising false broadband speeds that are as much as 80% inaccurate ! Can anyone vouch for a guaranteed speed !

  1. In my experience, when they advertise 5meg, 10meg etc, these are the maximum possible. I cahnged my connection recently because my supposed minimum 5meg connection was achieving around 300k at best. I asked the company concerned about this but they said that they are at the mercy of the telephone company and if they measure it and it exceeds 512k then nothing will be done irrespective of the package you pay for as this is the minimum standard in the small print (not in the advertised package). I have checked it out and it seems I am about as far away from the exchange as I could be and therefore get the short straw with regard speed as they sign more people up on what has to be considered false pretences. Even if I had gone through the process of having them verify my actual speed, it seem stheir only legal obligation is to restore you to 512k minimum. Needless to say I am no longer with them and now use a company not reliant on telephone cabling and exchanges. Using the cable TV network I am now getting greater than my rated speed on a regular basis.
